We believe in the power of song. By raising our voices together we highlight and bridge differences, celebrate harmony and dissonance, and create a shared vision for a future in which all are welcomed, included, and respected for who we are, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, or orientation.
A choir of a thousand distinguished woven parts,
Perfect in its union of common beating hearts.
- “Because You Sang” by Ruthie Prillaman (BA ‘16) and Arianne Abela (MM ‘10)
Our mission is to promote harmony through choral music. With this mission comes the responsibility to cultivate diversity both in our membership and leadership and in performance opportunities across the globe. We purposefully incorporate into our ever-expanding repertoire the music of composers, regions, and cultures from beyond the traditional canon that has historically undervalued the works of women and individuals from Black, Indigenous, Latino/a, Asian, and other communities. We educate ourselves about the origins and meaning of the music, with the goal of performing it with honor and dignity.
